I am a Registered Nurse and Midwife who has a passion for women's health.
Completing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Curtin University in 1998 I commenced a graduate program at Sir Charles Gardiner Hospital in 1998/99. I first entered the world of working with babies in 2000 when I commenced working at the Neonatal Nursery at King Edward Memorial Hospital. My interest of working with women and babies was taken further in 2002 when I completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Midwifery at Edith Cowan University. I further consolidated my midwifery practice with a graduate program at King Edward Memorial Hospital.
Travel took me to London in 2003, where I took an opportunity to further my skills in women's health by working at the Family Planning Association.
On my return to Perth in 2005 I returned to midwifery at Saint John of God Mt Lawley (formerly Mercy Hospital) and have gained extensive experience in delivery suite and postnatal care. To further my knowledge in breastfeeding I obtained certification with the International Board of Lactation Consultants from 07'-12'. In 2010 and 2013, I had some time off to care for my two wonderful boys, and to this day I still work part time at St John of God Mount Lawley Hospital.
I have two nicknames "JB" and "Nellsie"
